Water was in the 50's and higher than it has been since this drought started. Flow was relatively non-existent due to the many stick and rock dams-- one of which I breached just above the lower River St bridge. Saw quite a few smaller (8 - 10 inch) fish eating off the bottom.
The water level by the upper River St bridge was decent and close to "normal", although flow wasn't. I managed to land a beautiful 14 inch Brown on an ant and broke off another. Quite encouraging to see, given the past conditions.
It's doubtful that the Q will see any fall stocking, but nice to see that some decent fish made it through the drought.

BobAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00697347691639204569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5461245170077475695.post-13314389916377534902016-09-25T05:32:00.702-04:002016-09-25T05:32:00.702-04:00Joe,

I fished above the trestle at wendell's down to the c&r. waters looking better, but all i got was smallmouth bass and sunny's. dropped one unknown fish down at the second trestle. saw a flash of orange/brown so maybe a small brown, or another pumpkinseed. then went to bears den. water was muddy up at the trestle, no rises. the runs were low down to the TU pool. The TU pool looked the best i've seen this summer, but we struck out there. fished down a little ways but again no joy.

congrats on 9 years and keep it up
regards
JoeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5461245170077475695.post-39082702966512930122016-09-24T02:51:48.263-04:002016-09-24T02:51:48.263-04:00I'm waaaay ahead of you! congratulations on 9 years and running!
...Hi Ken,

congratulations on 9 years and running!

I'll tell you the reasons why I'm grateful for your blog. First of all, you keep it fresh. I check in almost daily and it's nice to see a new blog every few days (on some sites the blog posts are weeks, if not months old). I know that's a lot work but it is appreciated. Then there are the river reports. Though I haven't fished the Millers, EB etc. yet (but I hope to sometime), I do fish the Swift a lot and it's interesting to compare notes. Next, I like the flies and tying instructions you offer. Just to name one example, sometime ago you wrote about the Pinhead. That has been a productive fly for me on the Swift. And finally, I also enjoy reading the comments and feedback you get.

So keep up the good work!

Herm Hermhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13062236633857982362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5461245170077475695.post-39046354464531573902016-09-23T09:37:10.251-04:002016-09-23T09:37:10.251-04:00I went and checked the Millers yesterday from the ...I went and checked the Millers yesterday from the Wendell bridge at the start of the lower C&R area, its low, but definitely fishable. My daughter even had good enough eyes to pick a fish out swimming between the rocks. Not sure what species it was, but it was about 10-12" long. Not a soul was fishing there. I then went to Orcutt pool area, and we walked out on the bridge that's closed. Again, its low, but still enough water to fish. We didn't see any fish there but that doesn't mean they aren't there.

Jeff B.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5461245170077475695.post-44209863365590936232016-09-23T08:58:52.307-04:002016-09-23T08:58:52.307-04:00Here's to another 9 years, I toast with a sip ...Here's to another 9 years, I toast with a sip of coffee.
Great blog Ken.Brk Trthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12677442640158367831noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5461245170077475695.post-34449905147383756222016-09-23T07:36:07.989-04:002016-09-23T07:36:07.989-04:00Congrats on 9 years of growth and great Blog.
