Do any fish stay over in the above rte 9 section or do they migrate downstream or are they poached ? I have not fished there in quite some time-but I used to catch my fair share in the 80's and 90's above rte 9 until about March-they seemed to disappear for awhile every year. It would be an objective I would think to get some sort of self sustaining fishery there...I think the brookies reproduce but I had always thought the rainbows they stocked were sterile...not sure...I just moved back to the area and am looking forward to re-exploring my old haunts soon. Great blog.
Most rainbows above rt 9 stayed there through the winter and that goes back many years. This was a freakish year where from mid January onward we saw nothing.
